# Agent Teams

> Have Mira assemble a team of specialized agents that collaborate on complex, long-running sourcing tasks.

An Agent Team lets Mira put several specialized agents on the same Task. Instead of one Agent handling everything, the team members divide the work and run in parallel, which helps on larger or more open-ended work.

What is an Agent Team [#what-is-an-agent-team]

An Agent Team is a group of specialized agents that work on a Task together, in parallel, with their progress synced as each stage completes. The team can take on work that's too broad or too deep for a single Agent to handle in one pass.

By default, a Task runs with a single Agent (Mira working solo). An Agent Team is used only when the work calls for it.

When to use it [#when-to-use-it]

An Agent Team helps when a Task is large, open-ended, or needs sustained effort:

* Long-running, deep research where one pass isn't enough.
* Complex hiring tasks that combine several lines of work.

For a focused, well-scoped search, the default single Agent is usually the better choice — it's simpler and faster.

An Agent Team also pairs with Agentic Search, where Mira plans its own retrieval path across multiple data sources. The team can divide that search work across members and run parts of it in parallel.

Starting a team [#starting-a-team]

There are two ways a team starts:

1. **Mira assembles one automatically** for complex tasks when it decides a team is the better fit.
2. **You request one** using the **Agent Team** button in the Task input toolbar — click it to turn the team on (it highlights when active). The setting is remembered per conversation and defaults to off, so each new Task starts solo unless you turn it on.

Confirming the team [#confirming-the-team]

Before a team runs, Mira shows the proposed team for you to confirm — how many agents it will spawn and what each one does. You can:

* **Approve & Run** to start the parallel run, or **Cancel** to have Mira continue solo instead.
* View the full spec of each proposed agent — its model, allowed tools, and a system-prompt snippet — before approving.

A team combines default (preset) agents with custom ones, and there's a limit on how large a single team can be.

Directing how members collaborate [#directing-how-members-collaborate]

Beyond the run settings, you can guide how the team's members work together by describing it in your Task. For example, you can have them:

* **Cooperate** — work toward the goal together.
* **Divide the work** — split the Task into parts, one per member.
* **Compete** — tackle the same problem in parallel so you can compare approaches.
* **Work-and-review** — one member produces while another checks the result.

This is direction you give in your request, separate from how the team is started.

Following the team's progress [#following-the-teams-progress]

Once running, the team works in the Agent Team Workspace. Each member's role and status appear in the Task conversation in real time, so you can see who is doing what:

* A roster lists the team members (**View Agent Team members**).
* Each agent shows a live status — Spawned, Running, Completed, Failed, Stopped, Timed out, Waiting, or Awaiting permission.
* A Task Plan tracks stages as they complete.

While the team works, Mira keeps you updated alongside it.

Plans & credits [#plans--credits]

Like other work in Mira, an Agent Team run spends credits, and usage counts toward your plan's cap. Agent Team capacity depends on your plan — the Team plan includes expanded Agent Team capacity.

FAQ [#faq]

Can Agent Team members use the Mira Browser Extension? [#can-agent-team-members-use-the-mira-browser-extension]

No. The Mira Browser Extension is available to the main Agent only, not to team members. If a Task needs browser access, run it with the main Agent. See [Mira Browser Extension](./mira-browser-extension).

What if I don't want a team? [#what-if-i-dont-want-a-team]

Cancel the proposal and Mira continues solo on the Task. You can also leave the Agent Team button off so Tasks start with a single Agent.
